abstract = {This article describes the successful application of the problem-solving processes outlined in Stephen Palmer’s PRACTICE framework to a real-life school-based organisational problem. The coach’s role and contribution to the process is identified at each stage. A problem-solving approach in general, and the PRACTICE model in particular, is shown to have utility at the organisational level, even where the coach is non-expert in the nature of the problem being worked on. A learning point to emerge from the piece of work illustrates and emphasises the importance of goal-setting in the problem-solving/solution-finding process. Further reflections and implications for practice are discussed. },
