abstract = {The purpose of this quasi-experimental, longitudinal mixed-methods research was to examine the link between career coaching, self-efficacy and the employability efforts of post-1992 university students and to investigate effectiveness of coaching in increasing students’ career self-efficacy and, as a result, their employability efforts. This research also examines what aspects of coaching relationship are most effective in changing students’ career self-efficacy beliefs, outcome expectations and employability efforts. The research further explores impact of gender, ethnicity, perceived social support, socioeconomic status, cultural influences and gender role models on students’ employability efforts, using the Social Cognitive Career Theory as the employability framework. Originality/value of research: The findings of the study can inform the post-1992 universities’ career coaching policy. The SCCT framework may be used as an employability framework in Higher Education. The results from the study may inform future intervention programmes that seek to promote the self-efficacy and outcome expectations of disadvantaged and marginalised groups.},
