AB - There are few evidence-based studies on coaching supervision and little attention to the role of supervision theory and its application in the executive coaching context. A review of the literature identified a number of theories and models of supervision that are central to the way supervision currently takes place in executive coaching, although these approaches are adapted rather than designed. This research will explore the views of individuals who teach and write about coaching supervision and those who provide executive coaching and/or supervision services, to gain their views on coaching supervision theory and its application in the executive coaching context. Originality/Value of the research: This research addresses a gap in our knowledge of some major theories of supervision, their adoption in coaching supervision and application in the executive coaching context. The research will explore whether existing theories of supervision are right for executive coaching or whether new theories and models need to be developed.
