Diversity leadership requires a commitment to excellence, inclusion and integrity. Lee asserts that in order to manage system-wide diversity with integrity, leaders must also learn how to deliver and demand diversity excellence at the personal level. in this article, Lee examines coaching interventions at the personal, micro-diversity, level. Micro-diversity coaching assists clients in learning to include increasingly diverse, perspectives; solve problems according to a more diverse set of decision-making models; add new skills that positively engage diverse populations; and determine when opportunities require action. When this is done well, the whole system more effectively integrates intentions and outcomes, balances openness and decisiveness, and creates more involved and energized constituents.
