Health Care Professionals: Learning a Different Conversation

Health care professionals are highly trained in the art and science of diagnosis, prescription, and treatment for patients, typically based on the medical model. For many years we have expected them, as the experts, to diagnose health issues and to prescribe a treatment plan that will alleviate or at the very least minimize our health concern. They are trained to focus on the health issue at hand, arrive at a solution, and prescribe (tell) or recommend a plan of treatment. It is the paradigm of telling that this article examines.
